This is our history
We sprang from the 60's Charismatic Movement of churches referred to as 'new churches' and had our first meeting in 1976 in the home of Kitt & Sue Mason. We seek to be uncompromisingly committed to what the Holy Spirit is doing in these days. Our name, 'City Church', is intended to convey our concern for the city of Plymouth, and our longing to see a city-wide unity given practical expression. Additionally, our understanding of the mandate in Matthew 28 has taken members to many nations. We have facilitated the birth of churches in Benidorm, St Tropez, Bogotá, Kisumu (Kenya), and Okehampton (Devon). And, a Romania team has been involved in Romania in past years. Currently, the City of Málaga, Spain, and the surrounding area on the Costa del Sol, have become a new focus of ministry.
For the 15 years until the end of 2003, we were known as 'Church of the Nations' , but we have returned to our original name, 'City Church' which was first adopted in 1978 - shortly after the church was planted in 1976 by Kitt & Sue Mason..
